Mortose Latch Replacement

Home Owner from Twin Lakes, WI
Hello, i have a Guardian Sliding Patio Door that the mortose latch has malfunctioned on and I need to find a replacement. The label on my dor reads this for a Model:
Guardian ANSI 297.1-1984 Safety Tempered SGCC2259 BS 6206:1981 IS CFR 1201 II CAN/CGSB-12.1-MWhen I've read through your site, it seems that the 82-218 Mortise lock should fit, but it looks identical to one that i bought on Amazon and the Mortise lock isjust slightly too big for the rounded hole i have in the door, so i'm not convinced the 82-218 will work. I've been to countless stores and have ordered many other parts from barious online stores with the same results. Its as if the locks are mm's too long. I unfortunately don't have the old Mortise latch as it fell through the hole, which at the time i didn't think much of it until i've come to realize this must be unique because nothing seems to fit this hole. The hole is about 3 1/16 to 3 2/16 inches but rounded off at the top and bottom. The body of most mortise latches has been 3 3/16.
Hoping there's something i'm missing or a mortise latch i haven't come across yet that wil actually fot this door.
Thanks

Hey there,

Thanks for writing in! Since the installation hole spacing is a match, the 82-218 should be the correct replacement. When installing these, The mortise lock needs to be fed through the hole before it can be secured to the door.

Unfortunately, as you've already experienced, if you aren't holding on to the latch with a pair of pliers, the mortise can fall into the door cavity.

Take a look at the installation video below to see if this might have.
