Mounting holes for patio glass door roller are split

A handy person from Florida says:
Hello Sir or Ms.
I have a question for you regarding roller replacement. The original mounting holes for the rollers are split and broken. I plan to cut new mounting holes next to the old ones giving a 2" space off of the old holes to stengthen the structural integrity of the mounting. Have you ever experienced this problem or been told it from your write ins?

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Thanks for your patience during this busy season, Robert. I'm actually not sure what you may be able to do in this scenario. I've never encountered this situation before. However, I bet my colleague Dave has an idea or two. I'm going to forward this to him and see what he thinks. We'll try to get back to you as soon as we can.

A professional from CA says:
Make sure the center is supported, and you should be ok.

It looks like you have a vinyl patio door from looking at the photos. My first thought is to place a piece of wood or plastic wood like an Azak into both ends of the patio door cut out. Try wedging the pieces into the door frame or possibly use a type of adhesive like Gorilla glue jell. Once the roller housing is somewhat secured, the weight of the door should help keep it in place.

Another idea would be to attach an extension using a flat piece of steel to the roller to install the screws further away from the broken part.
