Need Parts for Counter Balance

Handy Person from St. Louis, MO

I hope you can help. I have sliding windows in need of repair. The problem is the windows won't stay up; the balances don't stay put because the top plastic caps have deteriorated with age.

Windows are single hung. No tilt feature. White metal frame. White vinyl inserts. Might be from 2001. Not sure of the brand. Label shows:

Code: PEN-1

Spec: DH-B1-HP / DH-A2-HP

Series: 2001

MST: 38510 / 4676

Channel balance: about 28 or 29 x .5 x .5 inches. It's a square channel with a spring, pulleys and rope.

Shows: 2740F or 2740P

Can I buy new top caps and install? And, new balances?

Thanks,

Hi there- thanks so much for posting!

If you want to replace your top sash guides and your channel balances, we'll need to see photos of both removed from the window. We'll need measurements of the top sash guide, an unbroken on specifically.

For the balance, we'll need to see both of the nylon attachments on either end of the metal channel. Given the stamping on your balance, the length of your metal channel should be 28", so you'll need to confirm that as well.
