Need Parts for Windows Identified Please
We can supply this balance, but only as a custom order due to its configuration. For that reason we need a bit more information before we can get started.
To begin with, can you kindly verify that the 31-6 and 25-4 balances are identical in all aspects other than size? ie., they have the same attachments and hook style?
For both balances, can you tell me the exact weight of the sash they support? Please record the sash as precisely as possible, to the ounce.
Finally, how many of each stamp did you need?
The 25-4 and 31-6 are the same configuration. The sash that the 31-6 supports is 34 5/8" wide, 35 1/4" tall, about 29 lbs. while the 25-4 is 33 1/2" wide, 28" tall, and weighs about 25 lbs. I will need (2) at each window.
I also found out that I have a small bathroom window that will require (2) as well but they dont have either part as they were removed prior to our owning the house. Not sure if you can identify correct part size as the sash is 21-5/8" wide, 17-1/8" tall, and weighs 9 pounds.
Great, thank you. For the sash weights, I strongly suggest you get exact weights. Even being a pound off can render a balance non-viable as a replacement. We can work with your estimations for now, but that's something you may want to double check before you finalize an order. Custom balances cannot be returned for a refund.
Regarding the smaller bathroom window, that's going to be tricky without a reference, but I think we can swing it. Rather than the full sash size, can you give me the height of the visible glass only? Can you also give me the height of the visible glass for either of the two other windows? I know that sounds like a strange measurement, but it's how the manufacturer determines length and is the safest way to calculate this kind of thing.
What I'm going to do is take the visible glass height + balance length for one of the larger windows, then use that to estimate the balance length for the bathroom window by using the glass height as a reference. There is a margin of error for this, please understand, but it's usually a safe bet.
Once we extrapolate the length of the bathroom window, I'll email you a purchase link and price quote for 2 of each size calibrated for the sash weights given.
Perfect, thanks! If the 31-5/8" balance has a 31-5/8" glass, and the 25-5/8" balance has a 25-5/8" glass, then we can reasonably assume that your 13-5/8" glass uses a 13-5/8" balance.

Just one last note: the balances we're going to send you are going to have a slightly different style, but they'll work just fine in all applications. For full transparency, your old model is actually obsolete, but the new should work without issue. We've been using them to replace the old models for about a year now and have had no issues.
