Need a new balancer

Home Owner from Frederick, MD
Hi, I am trying to find the correct balancer to repair my broken windows. I have about 5 or 6 windows that randomly slammed shut and now wont stay open on their own. the balancer is popped out. The balancer is 30 inches long and has a 30C stamped on the side.
It uses a string balance that screws into the mainframe. Can you help me find the right product to purchase in order to repair the window?

Thanks!

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out! I am confident we can provide you with a replacement recommendation for your balances. Although, I will need to see a photo of the bottom attachment identify the correct replacement. This is still likely to still be in the window channel, connected to the bottom of the sash.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Hi Jasmine,

I will attach photos of both the top and bottom of a window that has the balance in place. I can also attach some images of the bottom and top of the balance that is broken and popped out since it can no longer hold the weight of the window up. From what I can see, there is no pivot shoe at the bottom connected to the balance.

Hello,

The black piece shown in the window channel, in the second photo, is likely to be the shoe. You would need to remove the window sash to see a clear view of it.

That being said, it is most likely you'll need the S795-30 Channel Balance with a 30C stamp. This balance comes assembled to the 15-195 1-1/4", closed cam T-Lock shoe.

To confirm if this is the right shoe for your replacement balances, you'll need to examine the existing shoe. There is a chance you may also need the 15-194 1" shoe or the 15-195B 1-1/4" open cam shoe; both are sold separately from the balances.

Jasmine,

Oh I see now! Thank you for sending over those links! Very helpful! I took the sash out and was able to see the shoe! Photo attached :)

Thanks for the photo. This does appear to be a T-Lock shoe but you'll need to remove it from the window channel to confirm its width and whether it has an open or closed cam.

Again, the balances come with the 15-195 closed cam shoe; the other two mentioned are sold separately. There is a video tutorial tagged below with instructions on how to swap out the shoes.
