Need a new screen door latch

Quick Learner from Raritan, NJ

My door latch broke on the inside. The door is 22-23 years old. I am not sure of the manufacturer. I tried to buy a whole new door (Home Depot) but the height was 1/2 inch to big on an adjustable door and 3/8 inch to long on a second door. Lowe?s (2 stores) did not have a door this size. There is a Lowe?s (25 miles away) that may have a door in stock. I looked at your website to replace the latch, but could not figure out which one is the right one.. I will buy a whole new door or latch. The latch is 4 1/8 inches long. And the door is 36 1/8 by 77 3/8

Thank You,

Alan

Hey, Alan. At first glance I think your door could be an older style made by Care Free. I don't think this exact style is around anymore, but take a look at our 84-223 handle. I believe the inner and outer handles are the same as yours but I'm not sure about the inside metal latching part. In older doors, that latching part was usually longer than what's made today. Look it over and see what you think.

As for a complete new patio screen door, you will need to contact a glass shop or hardware store that can make you a custom made door. The doors sold at the big box home centers are generic types that just won't fit.
