Thanks for writing in! I am confident we can provide you with a replacement recommendation for your coil balance shoe. I'll just need to know the measurement for the width and the thickness of the balance shoe. It would also help to confirm the thickness of the coil spring.

May I also see a photo of the pivot bar this shoe is compatible with? It is likely still installed at the bottom of the sash.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions in the meantime.

The balance shoe is about 1/2 inch x 1.25 inch but I think the balance shoe is working just fine. I think the item I need to replace is the coil springs it is about 1/2 inch. Can I replace just the coil spring? Thanks

You may be able to use the 1/2" thick S160-07 to replace your coil; although, the tongue that connects the coil to the shoe is just a bit longer than the one on your existing coil. This coil is rated to support 7.5lbs, so you'll need to replace them on both assemblies to keep the sash even.

If you are also considering replacing the cover, I suggest using the 15-150S.

Is it different to use 7.5 lbs vs 9 lbs? Just in case I also need the shoe, can you please recommend shoe product code?

Thank you very much!

We typically suggest using coil balances that can support a weight within 1lb+/- the sash weight. Since your original balances were stamped with an 8, it is likely the sash weighs somewhere around 16lbs.

Two 9lb coils would provide 18lbs of tension, which would be too strong for the sash.

To replace the shoe, I believe you can use the 15-191 Heavy Duty Pivot Shoe. Be sure to double check the dimensions to confirm that it would be a fit.
