Need help identifying what parts to purchase

Handy Person from Toronto
Hello, I emailed yesterday and was told to upload some pictures of my window hardware.

I have 2 windows that won't stay up. One is a bathroom window and the other is a bedroom window.

I took pictures for reference, the image files ending in 33 and 35 are of the bedroom window hardware. This one looks like it has 2 coils on each side?

Can you guys please advise what parts I need? By the looks of it I just need the coils themselves right? Thank you very much.

Thanks for posting. If the pivot shoe is undamaged then you certainly can just replace the coil springs. Your pivot shoe resembles are 15-111. This is compatible with Series 165 Coil Springs. Search the coil springs for stamped numbers to indicate what spring weights you need. If there are no stamps, weigh your window sash. We can then use that exact weight to tell you the spring weights you require. Many thanks.

Thank you for your help. Will do. Can you please tell me how I can take out those pivot bar retainers? I got one out but it was by force and I think I might have broken it.

Also, does the bedroom window look like it has 2 coils on each side to you? I guess when I give you the sash weight, you'll be able to tell me definitively right?

One last thing, because the bedroom window had become so hard to push up, I ended up braking the lift rail. Is that something that can be replaced? Thanks again.

I'm not sure what you mean by pivot bar retainer. Looking at your first photo, your pivot bar just looks like it's screwed to the sash. I don't see anything holding it in. Can you go into more detail?

Your coils are too unwound for me to tell how many are used on each side. If you have an identical window in the house, you can use that as a reference. Otherwise, we can do some math once we have the sash weight and calculate what will work best.

I don't think we'll have the lift rail your window does, but we do sell a couple of surface mount varieties. You can see them all on this page
