We are replacing 14 double hung wood sash windows in a 100 year old church. The weight of the windows is changing because we are installing laminated glass. The sash height is 26 1/2 to 26 11/16. The weight of the of the sashes is 24 to 26 1/2 lbs. I need help with correct length and tip color. We will be placing our order when we have the correct size. Thank you Barney. Thanks again

Hey, Barney, thanks for posting. I see that you were looking at our S500-26. Is that the spiral balance that you need for these windows? Also, is 24 to 26-1/2 pounds the weight of the sashes before or after the change of glass?
If that is the weight of the sashes you're working with now, and if the S500-26 is the balance you need, then I recommend the Red Tip. Two S500-26 balances with a Red Tip can carry a window sash weight range of 7 through 29 pounds.
That balance also has a Blue Tip option, however, two of which can carry 12 through 31 pounds. Ultimately, it's up to you.

If you think a 26" balance is the correct lenght than I will go with that.

I am not sure if 26" is the right length, actually. I just noticed that you were looking at that. What is the length of your original balance's tube? That's the only way we can be sure of what you need.
