Need help with older non identifiable windows

Home Owner from Fort Bragg California
Hi. Bought this 1933 built house, no idea when these windows were installed, none of the four upstairs function properly
Moving part of window is about 75 cm tall. Metal rail of mechanism is about 68cm long

Thank you,
Stephane

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for writing in! I am confident we can recommend a replacement for this balance but I'll need to see one more photo to narrow down the correct replacement. Please provide a photo of the bracket in the center of the balance; this is where the spring and string meet in the middle.

You'll also need to confirm the dimension for the depth of your bottom shoe (front to back measurement). See the diagram below for reference.

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the additional photos. Your balance can be replaced with either the S380-27 with a 1" shoe or the S385-27 with a 1-3/32" shoe. To confirm which of these is the best replacement, you'll need to double check the depth of the bottom shoe.

it is 27mm or in ancient measures 1.063 inch so I guess s380 should be the right one. Thank you for your help

The 1-3/32" measurement is 1.09375" as a decimal, so I believe you might need the S385-27. Shoes can become worn down over time, which can skew the measurement.
