Need new balances for double hung windows

21 inch tubes
1/2 Inch Tabs
Red tip

Would it make a difference if I replaced red tip with black tip balances

I also the tabs that the metal spring connects to. What do you suggest?

Yes, using Black Tips to replace Red Tips would make a big difference. If your old tips are Red, I'd stick with those. Using Black would make your balances way too strong. If you wanted to confirm, you can always weigh your sash to confirm.
