Need new channel balances
I think the measurements are: 17 pounds, 1/2" channel width, metal length of balance is 27", the fittings have wings on both ends, I think the bottom shoe is slightly more than an inch.
The marking on the balance shows "26 3 BSI 00"
Please see pictures.
I think I need the S385 with a 27 inch length. But possibly the S380.
I'm not sure about the options. I'm assuming that with the marking on the metal I would need the 2630 option, but it looks like that one is sold out. Would a 2620 work? or a 2640? I'm not sure what these numbers refer to so I don't know how to choose.
Hello,
We are not able to make out exact dimensions from photos but your bottom fitting does appear to be over 1" deep. If so, you would need the S385-27 (2630) channel balances. The 2630 option would be required for your replacements since it indicated that the spring tension will be calibrated to support a sash between 13-19 lbs. Getting a stronger or weaker option will inhibit the functionality of the window and could lead to damage in some cases. If the specifications match up to yours, I'd recommend signing up to be auto-notified on the S385-27 product page to receive an email as soon as the 2630 balances are back in stock. Thank you!
Is there a way to determine what the correct size balance should be (for both the length and the footing size) without relying on the originals?
Thanks for getting back to us. We can estimate the length needed for each window if you could provide us with the exact height of the visible glass in the window sashes.
Unforutnately, there is no way to confirm the correct series for your windows without seeing the original balances that were used. I'd be happy to confer with our senior experts if you could check the window for any manufacturer information, including the year that the windows were made, but even then there is no guarantee.
