Need new insulation strips on storm windows.

Question

My customer has 6 storm windows that are leaking and growing mold between the storm window and the window.

The whole window is about 3' wide and 6' tall - 2 glass frames per storm window.

They were purchased at Sears by the builder in about 1962 - 1964.

I understand I will have to dig the strips out of the groves and press the new ones in because the frames will not come apart - allowing the strips to slide in.

Chances are, your wool pile weather stripping is something like our 58-002. Check its dimensions and see how well they compare to your own. To remove the old weather stripping without taking the frame apart, use a sharp utility knife to cut it out. Then, to install the new type, cut its length to the size of the frame, put one side of the stripping under the lip and finally, with a thin putty knife, work the other side under the lip.
