Need non-tilt channel balance for windows

Quick Learner from 33186

Hi,

I need to change all the sash supports on all of my 10 windows. My stamp option reads 2930 BSI (12 to 16 lbs). Based on what the model that I saw on your website, I think I need model S380 or S385. I enclose pictures for you to help me identify which model I use.

I think the windows are of different sizes. The one in the picture measures 30 inches in length. How can I determine the size of the channel balance that I need for the other windows? Can I use a channel balance that has a higher sash weight range? will it make it easier to open the windows? Jose

For each different size of window, remove a balance and identify it separately, to avoid any mistakes.

You're correct about the 30" length, and other balances can be measured in the same way, from one end of the metal to the other, with no plastic.

As for the Series, to choose between the two, measure the bottom attachment. The 1" shoe means you need Series 380, and the 1-3/32" shoe (sometimes it wears down to 1-1/16") means you need Series 385.

No, pick the right option for your weight. A stronger balance will be likely to break due to the nylon cord scraping against the pulleys. It would have a little extra spring, but it's not worth sacrificing the lifespan of the balance.
