Need to replace lever hardware on Cole-Sewell Storm Door

Home Owner from Alexandria, Virginia
The label has the registration number. The handle on the hardwood floor is the broken, original handle from the door. The other photos show different views of the lever door handle area on the door. I ordered 40-131 from Swisco and it does not fit. Returning it today. Need help to get right lever handle hardware for this storm door please? Thank you.

Start by looking at our 40-049. Carefully go over the dimensions and let me know if you think this could work for you.

As I am the homeowner and not trained or savvy in figuring this out - can you please clarify or define what you mean by carefully go over the dimensions? The set "looks" like the old handle/hardware - but I am unsure how to deal with dimensions, as you state. Thank you!

Take a look at the diagram of the 40-049. Compare your measurements the same way we have in the photos to determine whether or not this will work for you.

I have measured screw hole to screw hole, as best I can, with a seamstress tape measure, and I am getting 7 inches. And my measurement from the outline of the old plate from top to bottom is 8 inches, so might the bottom diagram with 6 15/16" screw to screw measurement and 7 11/16" top to bottom work? and in the door frame of the storm door there is only one screw hole on the top and one on the bottom, versus two in the image above. Appreciate your assistance with this!

Hey there, maybe I can help. The measurements of our 40-049 do seem to be close to the ones you need. As for the screws in the photo of the mortise latch, the two holes at the top and bottom edge hold the lock into the door frame. Concerning the other screw at the top, that holds the face plate to the mortise latch (I believe now the face plate is riveted on). The other screw at the bottom holds the key cylinder in place. Take a look at the related video to see how to install.

Cole Sewell isn't in business anymore, unfortunately. I don't think an exact match for your old handle will be available anywhere. I cannot guarantee that our 40-049 can work, but I really do think it's our best option.
