Our storm door twist to lock mechanism has failed. We bought both new lever handles, and a mortise lock from a shop. They are described a sports 5-5063 and K 5064, originally supplied by Academy Manufacturing, and made in Taiwan. They were made for a thinner door, spindle too short, screws connecting from to back panels too short, and do not appear to be as sturdy as originals. the mortise box fit in with a little filing, but although it put together, it is loose. I am looking for a sturdier replacement, that will fit more closely, an be made for a wider door. Do you have any suggestions? Sending pictures of the matching front door, our mess of pieces, and measurements, THANKS!
The pictures are not sending, will try to list measurements, and send pix with second post: 1 3/4 in wide door
Outer/Inner plates 7 5/8" long by 1 1/4 in wide
Mortise lock: 7 7/16 long x 5/8 in wide by 1 3/4 in deep.
6 15/16 between top and bottom screws
the deadbolt area is between 5 7/16 and 6/16 in from the top
New storm door handle

Can you reply to this post with photos? Try re-sizing and shrinking the photos, or send them one or two at a time.
