New window balance

I have this window in my kitchen that slides up and down. But also tilts inwards to clean the window nearest the screen. I was cleaning today and noticed that one of the balance? The string was lose and had no tension at all. While the other side was nice and tight. The window actually came out all together as I am not sure if the tabs at the bottom of the window are quite long enough. The one that was right flew up and has cracked some but I am still able to use it. The other is only held on by one screw at the top so I took it down and when.i did all these tiny pieces came falling out. That explains why no tension.
