Non fitting Shoe

A quick learner from Florida says:
I purchased a 31" series 377 Channel Balance and received it today with 19-018 top and 15-005 shoe.

Attempting to install it, I've found the wings on the shoe are too wide by 1/4". My original was 13/16" and your replacement is 15/16".
Going through your list of parts you don't seem to make shoe with those dimensions. Am I forced to file the shoe to fit?

It's bad enough I tore a piece of the weather strip trying to install this, filing seems like a sloppy hack.

I'm afraid I haven't been able to find a shoe with 13/16". I've actually never encountered the wing size being a problem before. Filing it down sounds like the quickest solution if that's the only problem, but if you don't want to do that I would take a picture of your original balance ends and upload them here for us to review.
A quick learner from Florida says:
I took a small rasp and knocked an 1/8" off each side of the wing. Otherwise, they just wouldn't fit.

It felt like a white knuckle operation, but the plastic was sturdy enough to handle the filing without breaking or crumbling.
Attached are pictures of the old and new shoes (before filing).

Huh, that difference is very slight. I'm surprised it caused all that problem for you, but regardless I'm glad you were able to resolve it!
