Not sure what these are

Not sure what these are or of there are replacements for them. Just trying to find out if there are window balances for them.

Thanks for posting. This old-style spiral balance hasn't been made in a long time. The good news is that you should be able to use the 5/8" diameter S500, along with the 17-012 mounting bracket that is sold separately. Look these products over and see what you think.

One quick question what is the proper length suppose to be and is there special mounting brackets for the top to position this perfectly over the cylinder hole that this ride in? Also what about the weight of the window is there a way to adjust this for heavier and lighter windows?

Perhaps I can be of help. The proper length of the Series 500 balance is the length of your original balance tube. Note that there is no device on top of the wood sash to center the balance tube. The tube rides inside the cutout on the side of the sash. Most normal size wood sashes use the red tip Series 500 balance. The turning of the spiral via the 75-005 tool will adjust the tension of the balance for lighter or heavier sashes. Below is a generic direction for wood sashes using Series 500 balance:

First drop the balance behind the sash and screw it at the top with a 33-017 screw. Raise the sash and have someone hold it up, while you place the 17-012 bracket under the sash and have it corral the spiral. Screw the bracket to the sash with the 33-073. Continue holding up the sash while you bring the spiral up to the the bracket. Now turn the spiral clockwise with the 75-005 tool about three turns. Then lock the bow tie at the end of the spiral to the 17-012 bracket. Do the same on the other side and try the sash. If it creeps down, give the spiral another turn.
