Old Patio Sliding Door Latch Problem

Question

Enclosed are photos of an old patio sliding door latch.  The mechanism to move the latch hook seems to be working fine.  The problem is that the latch hook no longer will stay connected with the eye.  I have tried to slightly adjust the eye but as soon as I think the door is locked, I pull hard on the door and it unlatches from the eye. Please advise.

Thanks for posting! If the door is no longer latching properly, there is likely to be an issue with the hook installed in the handle set. Especially if the keeper and the hook are aligned properly. That said, I do believe the handle set needs to be replaced.
