Old wooden slider

Quick Learner from Longmont CO
Well the latch flipper thingy doesn't push the hook out any more.  Took out cleaned with WD.  IF I hold it upside down it comes out.
the handle assembly looks like the one you have.  Wooden handle with black metal and the lock  flippy handle is also black. Outside does not have a key.    Obviously has been fiddled with before as the screws aren't the same.  Bottom into handle is slotted and top is Phillips.   The door is wooden and there are holes that seem extraneous.  The door is great. Just can't latch it anymore. Any ideas?

Hi Maggie,

It sounds like the mortise lock may be damaged. Yours reminds me of the 82-227 Mortise Lock. To determine if this is the correct replacement, carefully review and compare the dimensions below.

If you are in need of a replacement for the handle set, I'll need to see a photo of the existing set to identify it. They are sold separately from the mortise locks.

Thanks Jasmine.  I will take it out and remeasure.   It really looks a lot like it

My pleasure to assist! I'm confident the dimensions should be a match.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
