Am helping a homeowner with there older patio door.
The issue they are having is the door sometimes will stick and rock up and then come down off the track.
The patio door only has two bottom rollers on a track and there is no track or rollers on the top even though the door has the pockets for them.
There is a 1-1/4" gap on the top of the door that allow the door to be lifted in and placed on bottom tracks. But then there is nothing to prevent it from being lifted.
I was thinking of installing a piece of wood in the top gap space on the frame after the door is installed.
Was wondering if you had a bump stop or some kind of product to eliminate the gap.
The bottom rollers are Truth 30410. They only have about a 1/4" of extension.
Would need something that extended out 1-1/4" to install in the top door roller pockets to eliminate the lifting.
Hope it made sense
Thanks for your time

We do carry the 81-182 roller, which has a 1-1/2" wheel. That would get your door up into the top pocket a little deeper. You also say you have pockets at the top; I wonder if you could install a set like the 81-151 in the top pockets? It has flat nylon wheels so it may let the door take up the gap at the top. A strip of wood like you're suggesting could also do the trick, if all else fails. Finally, it's possible your rollers in the are just worn out, which could be causing the issue. |
