Opening in door is too narrow for 82-218

Question

my tenant broke the lock on my SGD-R20 sliding door and I purchased a replacement part 82-218 last week. I tried to replace it yesterday but unfortunately the hole on the side of the frame appeared a little narrower than the lock piece so I could not get the old piece out or insert the new piece in.... Any suggestion to get it repaired instead of replacing the whole door frame?

Also I'm considering replacing the glasses in the door as they start to look foggy, would I be able to replace the lock after the glass is removed from the door? I understand that the lock and the glasses can be replaced separately, my question was, since I could not get it replaced from the side of the frame, can I get it replaced from the other side when the glass is removed.

The lock piece looks exactly same as the currently installed one. I've watched that video for more than 10 times. The problem is I couldn't insert the lock piece into the hole like what's shown on the video, the hole on my frame is too narrow.

There's no need to replace the whole frame, no. The 82-218 should fit in your door, it's a direct replacement for what I see in your photo now. You just have to kind of angle it in. It's made to have a fight fit, which is probably why you're having a little trouble. There's no trick to it. Our video shows exactly how you're meant to angle it in.

I'm sorry I can't give any more specific advice, but there isn't really a secret to installing these. If you stick with it I'm sure you can get it in.

As for replacing the lock once your glass is out, I honestly don't know if that's possible. I've never seen nor heard of that being done. I've always just installed it in the hole normally.
