Operator cranks

Handy Person from Wappingers Falls

Bought a house w/ about 20 windows installed by MY WAY in Wappingers Falls in 2016. Many of the operator cranks are broken. Failure point in all is the cast aluminum sleeve w/ small set screw, held in place by a drive pin. I need to replace 5 defective cranks, but would also love to have some of those smaller parts as replacement spares if they're available. Is there an updated version of more robust design?

Identifying marks: US PAT 361490, more numbers below difficult to discern.

Thanks for reaching out to us. The handles you're showing here all appear to match our 39-205 folding crank handle for Truth. That pivot point is unfortunately not sold separately, though, but for good reason: it very rarely breaks.

I've repaired about a million operators in my time, and most of those instances include swapping out broken handles. In all my dealings with the 39-205, the pivot point is usually the last remaining piece to the whole assembly. It's very strange to me to see them cracked clean in half in your photos here.

That makes me think something else may be at play here. You may want to check the operators to ensure that they're not having trouble opening or closing.

Otherwise, they don't really make a more robust version of the 39-205. They really only make this one way.

You could consider the 39-114L. This is exactly the same except it doesn't have a folding action, which means it's just one solid piece. There is no pivot point here to break, so you may find that to be a more reliable solution as long as you don't mind the lack of any ability to fold.
