Option Numbers

A professional from orlando says:
I have S351 Balances with 2310, 2320, 2330 option numbers. These are old windows and the parts may have been replace before. What is the difference between the different option numbers

Casey from SWISCO responded:
The difference between the different stamp options for SWISCO balance Series 351 is the weight tolerances.
Please remove the window sash and place it on a scale. The weight of the window sash in pounds is needed to determine the proper stamp option.

Stamp option 2310 will carry a window sash weight range of 5 through and including 9 pounds.

Stamp option 2320 will carry a window sash weight range of 9 through and including 15 pounds.

Stamp option 2330 will carry a window sash weight range of 15 through and including 18 pounds.

Stamp option 2340 will carry a window sash weight range of 18 through and including 22 pounds

This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
A quick learner from Jacksonville, Fl says:
when you says "This information is based on 2 balances per sash." you are saying that each balance is designed to hold half of the weight? so if a sash weight 15lbs than I would need two 2320 balances or two 2310?

Thanks for posting. You were right on the first count; for a 15 pound sash, you would need two 2320 stamped balances, or two 2330 stamped balances. I hope this answers your question.
