Oran compatible window parts

A quick learner from Burlington, Ontario, Canada says:

Hi! My double hung window - original manufacturer Oran - has some broken parts. Research indicates you have the most compatible components.

1 - two broken pivot bars (see pic for example). 3 inches long. 3/16 wide.

2 - one channel bar (see pic) with broken component that connects spring to pivot shoe via string. Bar is 28 inches long and 5/8 wide. Since I want consistent tension in both sides, I will need 2 replacement channel bars and replace the unbroken side as well. Marking in the channel bar I removed is: (first numbers hard to read) (64/84) unique 27-D-40

3 - I assume I will need to replace the pivot shoes as well? Since I assume new channel bars and pivot bars would not be compatible with existing shoe.

I believe I will need to count out a bit of the channel frame to be able to remove and replace the pivot shoes?

Any other advice?

Thanks! Dave

Many thanks for writing in. Offhand from your photos, it looks like you need the S770-28 tilt window channel balance with a stamp option of 28D, which is for a window sash in the weight range of 23 through 28 lbs. Look this balance over to ensure it matches what you need; you'll also want to make sure it attaches to the top of your window track the same way ours does, via a screw hole; if not, show us how yours attaches.

For your pivot bar, I can't quite make it out, but it might be something like our 26-226. Compare to see. If your pivot shoe is undamaged you can reuse yours; otherwise, compare your shoe's dimensions to the 15-188 to see if this matches what you need.

Thanks a bunch Paul. See attached for pics of how the window channel is secured. It sits in a support at the bottom and simply held in pace by a screw near the top. I assume I could drill a hole for a screw to secure your suggested window channel?

My existing pivot shoes are fine - but I believe I should order new ones to be compatible with both the window channel and pivot bars suggested.

If this makes sense - will order the parts suggested. Thanks!

You should be able to use the original securing devices with the new S770-28. You won't need to drill a new hole to attach the balance at the top.
