PGT window balance

Quick Learner from USA
Window Brand: PGT

Local vendor provided: 2960 Single Spring - This worked great but the price was way out of line (so I am here). The old balance (shown in the pictures attached) was a double spring (spring inside a spring). The single spring actually seemed better.

Please provide the correct item and price.

With winged attachments, this would likely be a Series 380 or Series 385 channel balance. Measure your shoe as shown below. For a 1" shoe, check out the S380-30 and for a 1-3/32" shoe, check out S385-30 to see if both attachments on those balances match what you need. If so, you can order the balance by selecting the proper "option."

To get the proper option, weigh your window sash. You could need a "2960" option like your local vendor suggested, but there's no guarantee that the vendor was correct or that their 2960 is identical to a SWISCO 2960. You need to weigh the sash to be sure. SWISCO's 2960 holds 32 to 35 pounds of weight. I notice that your balance doesn't actually say "2960" on it, but rather it has 36-38... I believe this may mean the balance is meant for a 36-38 pound window sash.

If that's the case, and your sash weighs between 36 and 38 pounds, you would need a SWISCO 2965, not 2960. This is why you do need to weigh. See what your sash weight is, consult the chart on the webpage for the balance you want to purchase, and see which option matches the weight of your sash.
