Patio Door Handle

Quick Learner from Merced Ca
Looking for a handle for my 1965 Air Lite sliding glass door. The plastic latching switch falls out of the locking mechanism.

Hello there. I am afraid we don't have a replacement for that latch lever. We may, however, be able to replace the handle set outright. Can you show me the locking mechanism in the door that this handle set interfaces with? Can you also confirm the hole spacing, or the distance between the center of each mounting hole, on the handle set? From there we should be able to narrow down your options.

Did you get the last pics for the door handle. It included the screw holes and the other 2 dimensions you asked for. Thank you

I'm afraid I haven't received any other photos from you. Please keep in mind that I can only see what you upload directly to this page. If you can get me those photos, I'll do my best to find what you need.

These photos are a huge help, thank you!

So, right off the bat I see that your mortise lock is similar in design to our 82-218, if not an identical match. Assuming I'm right then this broadens your available options considerably. The 82-218 is compatible with quite a few handle sets, all of which are fairly versatile and simple to install. None of them will look much like your original hardware, though, so keep that in mind.

The top of the list is going to be our 82-030 handle set. This has an installation hole center spacing of 3-15/16" and will hopefully be compatible with your original mortise. Just notice the shape and angle of the thumb lever tail, which is the component that intersects with the mortise: it's flat and has a 45 degree angle. As long as your mortise has a corresponding slot, then this should work for you.

I think in a worst case scenario, you will have to drill new holes in the door to accommodate the 3-15/16" hole spacing. I'm not sure exactly what that measurement is on your old handle, but just eyeballing it in your second to last photo here I suspect that it's a little wider. You should check that before you buy anything.
