Patio Door Lock question

A home owner from WI says:
I replaced the Double Hook Mortise 82-238 along with the inner and outer handle. The existing Multi-point striker was not replaced, It is the 89-030. At one time, I added a flat head screw to the center hole to actuate the safety on the latch, otherwise it doesn't work properly. Is this correct?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:

The 82-238 does have the actuator in the center and it does need to be pushed to activate the lock. Take a look at the 89-036 and also the 88-042 which has takes the 89-043 strike plate cover to activate the lock. However, if the screw you installed in the striker is working then stay with that. Look these parts over and let me know if you have any other questions.
