Patio Door Won't Shut

Quick Learner from San Diego
I have an older back sliding glass door. Can't get the door to shut all the way. Can you recommend new parts that could help me replace what I have. Thanks Don.

Hello, Don. I'm not sure what the issue might be here. Looking at your handle and mortise hardware, everything looks to be in good condition.

Can you explain the issue in a little more detail? About how close does it come to closing? Does it close, but just doesn't seal, or are we talking about a gap of inches (or more)?

My first thought is that it's a problem with the track and rollers. Your next step should be to closely examine those to see if there's any obvious damage. If you're lucky, it's just a matter of the rollers being clogged up with dirt and debris, which means giving them a good cleaning will fix the issue entirely. Otherwise we may have to replace one or the other, or even both.

I will clean the rollers to see if that helps. If you look closely at the last picture you will see the ware next to the receiver holes. It's only off by less than a 1/4 inch. Just enough that it won't lock.
Thanks, Don

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I can see that being an issue. In that case, you may just need to adjust the rollers; there should be a screw on the bottom corners of the door that, when turned, raise and lower the door. That should hopefully allow you to compensate for that 1/4" or so.
