Hello, Jon. We can't supply this exact handle set, but I believe you can use our 82-030 as a substitute. I know the design is different at first glance, but believe it or not it should still function the same way.

The mortise lock that is existing has a slot for the tailpiece to activate the lock.
Do I need to replace the mortise lock as well to except the new square post?

The 82-030 doesn't have a square post of any kind. It uses the same flat tail as your original and should be fully compatible with your existing mortise.
