Patio door locking mechanism

Question

The latch handle seems very loose. When I move it up to unlock door the lock latch does unlock but it goes up into the door and gets stuck. I can gently pry it down. I have used your site to replace the wheels on the slider and the wheels in my screen door. All good. this is the last thing to replace. The door is original to the house and the house was built around 1997.

Hello! Thanks for contacting us. Yeah, it definitely sounds like you need a new mortise lock. I recommend our 82-218, based on your pictures. Double check the dimensions, though, just in case. Also be sure to watch this video on the best method of replacement. You don't want the new lock falling into the door!
