Patio door overhaul

Unfortunately, we threw out the broken door handle. What would you recommend for our door? The screws look like they're 4" apart.
And I think we need new rollers, and a new door track. We watched your video. However, our handyman says our door has to be removed from the inside of the house, complete with taking down all of the moulding around the door.
Is that really the way we have to do it?

Thanks for posting. See our 82-069, this could be a good place to start. The hole spacing is 3-15/16", center-to-center.

As for removing the rollers, the video we have should about cover the whole procedure. I suppose there are instances where more is required, but I can't really judge what is necessary based on your pictures. Do you find the molding of your door is preventing its removal as recommended by our video?

There is a metal piece preventing us from removing the door as you've done in your video. Here is my door from the outside view. If you zoom, you'll see the metal piece that prevents us from pulling the doors out. Our door is also reversed from your door. My stationary door is on the left and slides right where yours is on the right and slides left.

That metal piece is normally just snapped into the patio track. In the video, we show one made of vinyl which works the same way as yours. Also take note that for some vinyl patio doors, the active door can be removed from the inside of the house by adjusting the wheels up into the door and lifting up the door. That may be the case for you, as well, but I'm not sure.

It may be a trick of the picture, but your door header looks lower in the center. That could be the problem. Every door track I've seen in California has been the same height inside and outside. your cap on the outside makes it hard to tell.
