Patio door roller

A quick learner from Prescott AZ says:
50 year old aluminum door. 1 1/2" rollers remarkably have worn out. Note in photos that axle hole is off center to roller. Door is 3/4" wide and roller has no housing. HELP!

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. I actually do recognize this part, despite how old it is. We actually carried this in our inventory up until about 2019, though truth be told I think it was discontinued long, long before that. I'm not sure who else may still have it these days. I think we were lucky with the stock we had.

As for substitutes, we don't have anything else with that off-set hole you need. That's really the biggest inhibiting factor here for us. I do remember working on a door made by Acorn that used a roller like your original. I took the bottom rail off of the door and used the frame screw to secure a roller like our 81-123 in the door and drilled a hole to access the adjustment screw. The 84-149 is another option. If you're handy then you may be able to get these to work, but even then it's not guaranteed. Ultimately you may want to contact a local professional to come out and look at this for you.

I hate to say it, but at the end of the day you may also be looking at a new door. These are just too old.

A quick learner from Prescott AZ says:
Thanks so much for your help. Can't find the offset roller anywhere, so we are trying to drill the door and improvise. I am preparing myself financially for a new door, as you suggested!
A quick learner from Prescott AZ says:
My contractor took this offset roller problem on as a project. He bought every roller our two hardware retailers had and altered the track in the door to fit the best one. Ended up drilling the door and the roller assembly to make it happen, but the door works flawlessly now. If the door makes it another 50 years, I will still be thanking you for your help (from a distantly better place, I hope!) Thank you Dave Sr.

That's awesome! I'm so glad you were able to get something to work. I'm sure this information will be helpful to others in the future, too.
