I think you may have an older, discontinued version of our 84-091. This may look like the same part at first glance but the trouble is that ours is 3/8" wide, not 1/4".

Can you triple check that detail? If it is that skinny then our part will unfortunately not work. The skinny roller was discontinued many years ago and no alternative was made.

A quick learner says:
The plastic wheel is 1/4" wide

The part is 1 1/8" wide

Also your part pictured doesn't have the hook end

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Thanks for verifying your measurements. Can you confirm the width of the actual housing itself? That is much more important than the length. Ours is 5/16" 3/8" as shown in the diagram below.

Ours does not have the hook end, no. They don't make them like that anymore. I wish they did, since the hook end is much easier to install, but the newer style still works in most of the same applications. It's just not as easy to pop into place.

A quick learner says:
What do you mean by housing?
The part or the bottom of the screen door ?

Tom from SWISCO responded:

I apologize for the confusion; I was referring to the metal piece that wrapped around the wheel, but I also said it was 5/16". This measurement is obviously wrong as the diagram has it listed as 3/8". I have edited my previous post to reflect that.

Sorry again!

A quick learner from Mesa AZ says:
Contractor and I measured it again
MAYBE a hair over 1/4"
5/8 is to big to slip into bottom of door !
We think that if we could get the plastic wheels we could make it work

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Sure, that makes sense. Our 84-017 is 1" in diameter and 1/4" wide. It comes with its own axle and screw but those are easy to remove if you don't need them. Look it over and see what you think.

A quick learner from Mesa AZ says:
Excellent ?. Except the 84-091 has a hole not the hook in the part ? Please look at the picture from start of this conversation
Thank you for helping me

How do I order just the 84-017 wheels ?
Credit card work for you ?

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Like I mentioned above, the hook part of the housing isn't made anymore. The manufacturer changed the design to be a closed loop. I'm not sure why they did it, since it means that the roller is more difficult to install, but the older hooked version just isn't made anymore. The loop will still install the same way, it's just going to take more patience and elbow grease.
