I have a 23 inch balance 5/8 diameter w a red tip. The window is a patriot 82.

Thanks for posting. Based on your description, it sounds like a spiral balance. Can you confirm if the window is tilt or non-tilt? If it's tilt, I recommend our S600-23.

Yes it's a spiral balance with tilt. The window will not stay up. Do I need a new shoe? Also what balance tool do you recommend to charge the balance?

If the window won't stay up, then the problem is likely with the balance, not the shoe. You can confirm if you need a new shoe by removing the sash and looking them over. If they are undamaged, then they are probably fine.

If the only problem is the window drooping, then you may just be able to charge it. See our 75-006. This is the tool we recommend. Also see the video below.
