Peachtree casement window handle

Home Owner from USA

Hello,

I am in need of a replacement handle. Part of the handle cracked where it is held by a screw/pin.

In my research, looks like another person posted a similar handle and cover and the part would be 39-375. It is for a left side window.

Thank you.

Christine

Hello, Christine. I do think the 39-375 is a promising candidate, but I don't know for sure. In order to confirm, can you remove the cover from your operator and show me a picture of the bare base? I'd also like you to tell me the diameter of the handle's hole. Thanks!

Can you tell me how to take the cover off? Do I just pop out the cover?

It should just kind of pop off, yes. Be careful, though. If you find that you have to force it then you should stop immediately. There are many, many older operators that were designed so that the cover cannot be removed; in those cases, it's literally built into the operator base. I can't tell if that's the case for you or not but it's something to keep in mind.

If you do have that kind of operator then the 39-375 wouldn't work anyway. You'd have to opt for the handle by itself, though we don't sell anything that would contour to the shape of the base. Something like our 39-205 would suffice.

I popped the cover off but not sure it is helpful to you. 1st picture is the handle on the right side and the handle lifted. The 3rd picture has the cover popped off and the missing handle.

That is helpful, though I admit I wasn't expecting to see this! Your old operator is the type that already has a cover built into it. It seems the cover you're looking for now actually goes on top of that, sorta like a double cover. I didn't even know they made these, but I guess it makes sense.

So, I have a couple ideas. The first is for you to consider our 39-232 folding handle. Now that I see the base of the operator I kind of have a good sense of what it is and I feel confident that this will work. The only question is whether it will contour to your double-cover (as I'll start calling it from now on) or not. I'm afraid I can't predict that, but I think it's worth a shot.

Just note that the 39-232 has a hole diameter of 11/32". Yours should be the same but you may want to double check just to be 100% sure.

We also sell a regular folding handle that doesn't contour to anything, which would be our 39-205. If you wanted to play it safe you could just get rid of the double-cover altogether and use this. It works the same way, it just won't look quite as nice. It would be our second best option assuming that the 39-232 won't fit properly.
