Peachtree double hung, non tilt window

A quick learner from Rotterdam NY says:
Balances broke. Not only the strings broke, but the river that the springs were attached to ripped right out of the channel itself. 26 1/4" long. Channel depth 5/8" and channel width is 9/16". Bottom sash weight is exactly as much as my wife + 22 lbs. ? the number stamped on the Balance channel Is 4260. The little nylon wheels are on a river and swing in and out. The bottom wheel has one groove and the top wheel has two. Any help identifying and sourcing two new balances would be greatly appreciated.

I was trying to be funny but came across as confusing. I had my wife stand in the scale and then handed her the sash. It weighs 22 pounds. Lol!

Hello! Thanks for posting. Your balance looks like a match for our S745-26. The original stamp you had, "4260," tells me that you should select the 25.25-5 option. This is meant to carry 26 through 31 pounds, though, which is a little heavier than your wife/sash combo.

You have a choice right now. You can stick with the 25.25-5 stamp, which will be the same as what you had before. Or, you can go for the lighter the 25.25-4 option, which carries a more reasonable 20 through 25 pounds.

We usually recommend replacing the original balances with what you had in the first place, but only if they were in good working order until they broke. Ultimately, it's up to you.
