Pella Screen Dorr Flush bolt installation help

Home Owner from Traqverse City, MI
I've purchased and received a Pella Screen Door Flush Bolt 40-014, but don't want to break the small tabs at the top end trying to force the part into the opening of the door. Do you have instructions on how to do this? The metal gauge just fits into the gap between the part and the tabs, but at the angle the part goes in, it doesn't want to go in far enough for the bottom end of the part to drop into the hole. If the tabs break, what is your replacement policy?

What you first need to do is to install the bracket plate in the door, like how we show on the store page. Now with the bracket plate installed in the door, with the locking clip at the top, install the bolt into the bottom hole in the bracket. With the lower part of the bolt in the bracket you would now push the top of the bolt in to the top hole. It will give you some resistance, but you just have to firmly push it in. Take note that once the bolt is installed, it is not made to be removed. You'd have to break it to get it out.

I installed the bracket upside down and can't get the bolt all the way into the bracket. Is it possible to remove it, correct the bracket position, and install the flush bolt without breaking it?

Unfortunately, it is not. These are not made to be removed once they're installed. The only way to take it out after is to break it.

I have the same problem as the first post on this thread. I do not know how to install the bracket plate into the door as pictured on the store website without breaking the tabs. When I put in the top part of the bracket plate into the door, I cannot move the bottom part into the door. Do you have a video on how to do this? Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that we don't have a video on how to install this part. The instructions that Dave posted back in 2018 remains the optimal method of installing this assembly, though I understand that it's easier said than done. Make no mistake, these can be very tricky to install, but there is no easier method that we are aware of. It's just a difficult project, unfortunately.
