On the Storm Door Multi-point Mortise Lock for Pella (#40-191) there are two small square plastic plugs with a triangular top in the two holes of the lock but I took them out or else the lock wound not slide in the door frame. Wgat is their purpose? Please look at the photo with the two arrows showing where they were.

I admit I'm not aware of the exact purpose of those plastic lugs, but I can tell you that they're part of the internal mechanism and are not meant to be removed in any capacity. I can't predict what complications might arise from operating your mortise lock with the internal mechanism having been tampered with like that.
