Pella operator replacement

The housing for the gear mechanism where the handle meets the linkage is cracked so the window won't close the final
Inch. Can you help me identify the part I need? Thanks!

Hello,

Your operator resembles the 39-097 shown below. We also offer the 39-096 opposite-handed version. Both assemblies use the 39-109B handle but, unfortunately, the cover was discontinued and is no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks so much! From your experience, is the cover only aesthetic or does it perform an important function?

The cover hides the gaps between the sill and the operator base but the assembly will still function without it.
