Pile Weatherstripping

Quick Learner from Rochester,NY
I have some felt that has come loose on my slider windows. I'm probably going to replace it, but how do you attach it? I tried to secure the loose spots with superglue and it didn't want to stay down. Thanks.

Hello,

Wool pile generally slides into a channel in the sash frame as shown in the videos below. We do not recommend using adhesive since it will be difficult to replace them in the future. Take a look at our selection here and let us know if you have any other questions.

I don't need to replace the weatherstripping because the felt is worn out, it needs to replaced because it doesn't want to stay in the groove anymore. My concern is that I will buy new material and it will do the same thing.

Could you show us photos of the original wool pile and where it is coming out? The backing is normally encased in the sash, so It's tough to determine what the problem is without seeing photos. If it is coming out, my best guess is that the backing that holds it in the sash may be damaged.

It was coming out of the groove, so I glued it back down. Maybe what happened is the felt separated from the backing and that left the backing in the channel. I guess the only way to tell is to buy new stuff and see how it compares.

If the seal is not staying in place and the sash frame is undamaged, it does sound like there is a problem with the base of the seal. You'll need to remove your wool pile to confirm that is the case and, if so, we'll need you to write out the exact backing width and pile height to compare to our inventory.

Thanks, I'll have to do that. Thanks for the help.
