Pivot Bar Screws are Stripped

A handy person from Wisconsin says:

My pivot bar screws are stripped, what are my options? You see, the pivots are tipping, causing the shoe brake to be applied just enough to make it hard to move the sash up & down.

Thank you in advance.Adam

You might want to purchase new pivot bars or take a screw and pivot bar to your nearest hardware store. Tell them the problem that the screws are stripped. They might move you up to the next size thread screw. You might also go with a truss head screw instead of flat head screw.

A handy person from Wisconsin says:
I like the truss head screw suggestion, thanks. I would have to drill the hole in the sash bigger to accommodate the larger screw head, though. Do you think that would be an issue? You can see in the photo how the hole is that same size as the screw head.

Thanks again!

I would first try using the larger screw before drilling the vinyl. Vinyl has a lot of give, so the larger screw might make its own thread through the vinyl then to the pivot bar.
