Pivot Bar inquiry

Quick Learner
The pivot bar fit great in the window...but I'm noticing now that it doesn't fit in the shoe correctly since it is a different shape than the simonton original pivot bar (there is a ridge before the end). It essentially creates a gap between the window at the casing when the pivot bar is going into the shoe.

Hello!

The 26-336 that you bought is specifically designed to replace your old Simonton pivot bar. However, we have had customers report similar issues that you've described here. What we recommend doing is swapping out the new cam with the old one. If that doesn't help, you can try grinding down the round "collar" on the tip of the 26-336 flat. Note, altered items cannot be returned for a refund.

I don't understand what is meant by swapping out the new cam with an old one? What's a cam? Is that the part the pivot bar sits in? Is that a different part on your website?

Hello! Emily isn't here today but I will do my best to assist.

The "cam" in this case is the round metal part of the pivot shoe. It has a U shaped hole in it that takes the tip of the pivot bar. I think Emily might have misunderstood your request, though; I believe she was under the impression that you purchased a new pivot shoe as well as a pivot bar, but that does not appear to be the case. Therefore you have nothing to "swap," as she recommended. You can ignore that piece of advice.

Your solution is unfortunately going to be more difficult. You need to grind the tip of the 26-336 flat so as to fit in the old style pivot shoe cam. Simonton unfortunately doesn't make the old style pivot bar anymore, and to my knowledge there is no updated version of the pivot shoe that could work with the 26-336. Grinding the new pivot bar tip flat is the only solution I've found that works.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
