Pivot Shoe Replacement

In 2011, I purchased Simonton double hung windows through Home Depot and recently one of the pivot shoes cracked. I purchased 2 different pivot shoes from you. The Certainteed shoe fit only after some trimming of the plastic (and was still tight) but the pivot bar would not fit into the shoe. I installed the smaller blue gray one from you and although I got it to fit into the track, the fit in the window itself is loose. Obviously, this pivot shoe is not designed for this window. The tilt latches don't fit snug and let go.
Can you direct me to the correct shoe? Or do I need to replace shoe and bar

Thanks for posting! If you are referring to the 15-192 Certainteed pivot shoe, it is likely you'll need to replace the pivot bar itself. To determine the best possible replacement, may I please see a photo of your existing pivot bar?

Unfortunately the window situation is at my condo and I am 4 hours away in my home. I would not have a problem replacing the pivot bar as well. How can I be assured that the pivot bar will fit in the Certainteed shoe. I did have to shave the pivot shoe down to get it to fit in the track and still it was tight only to find that the bar didn't fit.

I cannot make any guarantees, however, it is likely you have an older style Certainteed pivot bar. If that is the case, the easiest option would be to reuse the old metal cam from your existing pivot shoe.

They will come out of shoe if your spread it far enough to remove them, however, you'll just need to be careful not to spread the new shoe too far. You'll risk cracking the plastic at the bottom.

If you would like to pursue other options, we'd be more than happy to take a look. However, it would be best to see a photo of the old use if your are unsure.

I like that option. To allow the new Certainteed shoe to slide easily in the track, do you think I can shave a little more plastic off the shoe?
And do you think I need to replace the pivot bar? One side or both?
Thank you

If you've already shaved them down and they are still fitting tightly in the track, this shoe may not be the best replacement for you. You can of course try to shave them down a little more, but I cannot guarantee that will fit the issue.

Once you've tried shaving them down again, if they are still not fitting in the track properly, you may want to consider the replacements mentioned in the video below. Take a look and see what you think.
