Pivot bars

Home Owner from Clarksville TN
Hello.

I have been looking for these specific pivot bars and not having any luck. Any chance you have this part of know where it can be found. My windows are about 15 years old and there are no labels or brands noted on them. I did find a pivot bar that matches the measurements but th hole is not the correct distance.

thanks.

How does this compare to the 26-448 Pivot Bar? See what you think.

Dimensions for 26-448

Thanks. The length is too long. I need them to be 2.5 inches long.

The actual length of a pivot bar doesn't really matter. There is plenty of room in the sash for length variation. What matters is the shape of the pin end that fits into the shoe, and then also the distance that end and the mounting holes. You only need one mounting hole to align for it to work as a substitute. Take a look again and see if this option fits the bill. if not, let us know how it differs and we'll try and find something better.

Ok! Everything else appears it would work for this, the hole is just a 16th of an inch lower than where it needs to be. That would cause the pin to stick out a 16th of an inch more than it does now. Do you know if the windows have that allowance or does the piece that sticks out need to be exact. I will need a o replace both pins in each window.

That might be a deal-breaker, unfortunately. There isn't a whole lot of wiggle room for this kind of thing. It's why modern pivot bars have multiple holes, in case of situations like this. That little bit of redundancy can help save you a headache.

Before we do anything else, I think I'd like to see a photo of the pivot shoe that these bars go into. If the 26-448 holes don't align, maybe we can find a different one that will. But I need to be sure that it will fit into your pivot shoe in the same way. That, at least, has some wiggle room; moreso than hole position, anyway.

Is this what you're needing?

I'm afraid not; sorry for the confusion. The pivot shoe is the square plastic block that sits in the window tracks on either side of the window frame. It's what the front tip of the pivot bar plugs into when you put the sash back into the frame.

Perfect, that's exactly what I was hoping to see. So there are actually a ton of pivot bars that are compatible with this pivot shoe style, which opens up a lot of doors for you vis a vis alternatives.

You mentioned before that you need the hole placement to be 1/16" higher than it was, so that would be 1-3/4". As it turns out we have exactly one pivot bar that has a hole center set back 1-3/4" from the tip, which would be our 26-241. You may want to double check that measurement just to be 100% sure though.

You'll note right away that the 26-241 is very long compared to yours, but that won't matter. There ought to be plenty of room in the window for it to push in. All that matters here is hole placement relative to the front tip, and that the front tip actually fits in the shoe.

I can confirm now that the front tip of the 26-241 can fit in the shoe. I also think the hole placement is okay, but that last detail you'll have to confirm on your end. Look it over and let me know what you think!

Great. Thank you! The measurements appear to match but my only question is th ones I have are T shaped. I cannot tell from the picture or description if these are T shaped or does that not matter?

It's not T-shaped, no. Or at least, it only has one side of the T, if that makes sense. However that won't matter too much. The only actionable difference that makes on your end is that you need to make sure the one side of the "T" faces down when you're putting the sash back in the frame.

So in other words, if you think of the pivot shoe cam as a U, you want the pivot bar to be pointing toward the bottom of the U.
