Plastic part of lock - should be a closed ring

Question

Took a non working lock apart to find this. It should hold the end of a hinged piece that moves to engage the lock. Old door, no way to identify it. Thank you.

I'm afraid I don't recognize the hardware in your picture. Did this come off of a larger mechanism? If so, can I see the whole thing? Seeing any hardware related to this would be a huge help, to be honest. Thank you!
