Proper Window Balance

A quick learner says:
I have several Tilt windows with Series 600 Spiral Balances That are 5/8" tubes 16" long and white tipped. Many of these are not working. I weighed the windows and they weigh about 12 1/2 lbs. Should I consider using the red tipped balances instead?

Thank You

Hello, Paul! I would definitely go with the Red Tip option, instead. The White Tip would be too weak. It's possible you have an older version; older White Tip balances aren't necessarily the same as modern White Tip balances.
