Question about Channel Balance Maintenance

Hi there,

I has the window with S795-28 28B Channel Balances which were very old (more than 10 years). It works but moved slowly and heavily.

I sprayed some lubricant oil. It made a loud noise such as the friction between spring and the string when I opened and closed the window. It still works well but the noise. Do you know what happened and how to remove the noise from the Channel Balance or I need to replace them.

Hello! I hate to say it, but it sounds like your balance is just about at the end of its lifespan. These only last around 10-15 years, depending on frequency of use, so you're right on schedule. If lubricating the springs didn't work, then you should strongly consider replacement.
