I was looking for 7/16" x 3/8" gray wool pile. I ordered the 7/16" x 7/16" but it may be to thick and I want a backup plan.

Hmm... the 58-050 is only taller by 1/16". I don't believe that should give you trouble. If you already have the 58-050, try it out and see how it fits. If it does seem too tall, you could consider running a single edge razor blade along to give it a "hair cut". I have done this the past and it seemed to do the trick.
